The following are the current government screening programmes that you would be sent invitations for:
Annual appointments for eye examination are only made for patients recorded as having diabetes. The Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service contact number is 01332 868 860. If you are unable to attend this service, or have any eyesight concerns, then you are encouraged to attend your local optician for an annual check.
Women aged 50 to 70 are sent an appointment for a mammogram check every three years. This is a rolling programme and the first appointment may be between 50 and 53 years of age. If you think you have been missed, then please discuss this with the surgery, or contact Derby City Breast Screening Unit on 01332 785691. If you develop any breast symptoms such as a new breast lump, or nipple discharge, then please make an appointment to see the doctor.
People aged 60 to 69 will be sent a card for screening for bowel cancer every two years. We encourage you to do the test and post them back to the screening service as instructed. The telephone number for advice of this service is 0800 7076060. If you have a change in bowel habit especially if it has lasted a number of weeks, then please make an appointment to see the doctor.
